It will be nice and straight if you lay the bar and tack strip straight and are careful when trimming and tucking the carpet.
Tuck roll carpet edge.
Tap the carpet kicker to stretch the carpet in place over the padding and tack strip.
Start from the back side applying the tape where the carpet edge meets the center line of the tape that way you can fold the tape onto the top side.
